Re: Poor Man's Machine Gun
Just tried it on a Colt.....didn't make one lick of difference in the action of the trigger.....nothing even close to full auto.

Re: Poor Man's Machine Gun
This is not something that works reliably, and I don't think a rubber band helps much -- you just need to find a sweet spot between finger and stock placement, letting recoil drive the process. Short bursts can be achieved with a bit of practice, but it's tough to do an entire 30-rounder, and even tougher to predict where the bursts will hit. Mostly it's a good way to waste ammo and impress the easily impressed.

Re: Poor Man's Machine Gun
I think the trick seems to be holding the forestock forward--- instead of pulling it to your shoulder--- .Just looking at it makes me think the rifle has to move with recoil ,so holding forestock correctly may be the key.E-A

Re: Poor Man's Machine Gun
Never seen battle, but I just don't see the need for full-auto.
Seems like a waste of ammo. :dontknow: Am I a dumbass? |

anyhow, the main thing bumpfire is good for is "Fun." It is the firearm equivalent of masturbating. and Knob Creek is the mother of all circle jerks. |

After Vietnam is when they added the 3 round burst and got rid of full "rock and roll" on the M-16.........seems I saw the stats one time and the number of rounds per enemy killed was way up there.....thousands of rounds if I remember correct. |

I think three round burst would be awesome. This is the only reason I would want full-auto. |

I'm waiting to get my hands on one of those covert AKs that the russians have developed with the two little internal gas pistons. Suppose to be the smoothest most accurate "sprayer" ever made.

Re: Poor Man's Machine Gun
I think full auto can be used in a few scenarios in military use.
Supressive fire. In modern armies when taking a position, you usually take it under fire with the heavier machine guns in your platoon, and try and flank the position while enjoying some support fire. This keeps the enemies heads down and they can't see what you're up to easily and lay fire on your moving guys. Then you can reach their cover and shoot 'em up. Breaking out of a contact. If you are ambushed, you can lay down a lot of fire very quickly and withdraw, or push the enemy force with your firepower, if they start running. If you're being rushed en mass without support fire, which is a very bad tactic for any army unit. You can take out a bunch with a single spray if they are closely packed together. Even if you just have the gun over the wall etc. you are in with a chance of hitting something. For most purposes, if you actually want to hit a specific target, you aim and fire semi-auto. As you can see, there isn't really any compelling reason for civilian use of full auto. |
